We're thrilled to announce we're partnering again with the UChicago Institute of Politics and Straayer Center for Public Service Leadership for the 2027 Collegiate Policy Challenge. Last year, our first local team participated in the Policy Challenge and brought their work all the way to Chicago in February. Since then, they've been doing incredible work to update and expand their original proposal.
This year, we're excited for a whole new slate of teams to compete in the 2027 Policy Challenge. Read on for information and expectations!
Who is eligible to participate?
All current Colorado State University students are eligible to participate.
How many people can be on a team?
Each team must include between 2 and 4 members. At least one team member must be an undergraduate student.
What should I do to make a team?
Teams can be formed however you’d like! If you need assistance finding team members, please contact us by Friday October 2nd.
What are competition mentors, and how do meetings work?
Mentors are faculty, staff, and practitioners who provide feedback on your proposal. Each team may meet with one mentor for one 30-minute session leading up to the Pitchfest. Meeting details will be shared after registration.
What are the proposal requirements?
• Maximum of 2 single-spaced pages (title page, graphics, & works cited do not count toward this total)
• Minimum 10-pt font, standard margins
How are proposals judged?
Teams will receive written feedback from the judges and will also receive a numerical score based on a standard rubric. That rubric will be provided in advance to all registered teams.
Is a slide deck required for the pitch presentation?
No, but it’s highly encouraged. Judges will read each proposal before your presentation, and a visual aid helps to clarify your ideas.
Is there a presentation template?
Yes! Templates will be provided to all teams selected for the Pitchfest.
Can we change team members after registration?
You may remove teammates, but you cannot add new members after registering.
What do the winners receive?
The winning team will represent the Colorado State University at the 2027 Policy Challenge Super Bowl in Chicago. Travel expenses will be covered!
